On the U.S. side, the economic debate is being driven by three different constituents (the White House, the business community and the security establishment). The problem is that their objectives are either conceptually flawed or contradictory. Meanwhile, Beijing is paralyzed by nationalistic pressures and technological ambitions. How should the we view these developments and what are the possible outcomes?

Come hear from someone who knows both sides well: Yukon Huang, senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where his research focuses on China’s economy and its regional and global impact, and former China country director for the World Bank.
