This event will look at how Chinese investments abroad are shaping the international stature of the new superpower and why calls for reciprocity, CFIUS (The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States), sensitive technology acquisitions and the China 2025 plan are shaping the new rules of the game.

During this session, Andre Loesekrug-Pietri Chairman of ACAPITAL will present the latest trends on Chinese investments abroad, as well as focusing on some specific case studies – deals that went well, deals that went wrong, deals that were stopped by the Chinese regulators, deals that provoked outcry in target countries. He will elaborate on the current “glaciation” on Chinese outbound investments, the increased pressure to go west, some “dos and don’ts” both on the investing and on the receiving side, future opportunities and challenges facing Chinese CEOs. He will also present the latest bi-yearly ACAPITAL Dragon Index™. Featured in most international media since it was first released in 2011, the Dragon Index remains the leading source of data & trend analysis for China outbound investments. Finally he will discuss how Chinese ODI is a good proxy to measure the true internationalization of the Chinese economy and of Chinese corporates.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Andre Loesekrug-Pietri, Chairman of ACAPITAL, has over 10 years of experience working with Chinese private and state-owned companies. ACAPITAL is a European investment fund and has structured some of the most successful and well-known cross-border investments including Club Med and Bang & Olufsen.
