ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Jonathan Holslag is a fellow at the Brussels Institute of Contemporary China Studies (BICCS).
His research focuses on regional security in Asia. He wrote the book Macht of Mythe? (VUB
Press 2006) with Gustaaf Geeraerts, China and India: Prospects for Peace (Columbia University
Press 2010), and Trapped Giant: The Impact of China’s Military Modernization on Stability
in Asia (IISS Adelphi Series 2011). Jonathan was coordinator of the European Commission’s
academic network on China (ECAN) and headed a multidisciplinary research team on China’s
foreign policy for the European Parliament.
